The Director of Operations at Maaha Beach Resort, Jean Jacques Mass, has assured the public that the resort remains open for business despite a fire outbreak that destroyed 18 rooms on the night of Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
The fire, which began around 7 p.m. at the adjacent Vision Beach Resort, quickly spread to Maaha Beach Resort, damaging 15 rooms at Vision and 18 at Maaha.
Located in the Ellembelle District, Maaha Beach Resort has, for nearly a decade, been a popular destination for tourists and holidaymakers in the Western Region.
Confirming the incident to Channel One TV on Thursday, May 29, Jean Jacques Mass noted that although a portion of the resort was affected, operations continue as normal.
“Maaha Beach Resort is still running. People who love the Maaha Beach Resort should continue to do business with us. Those who want to come here should feel free, don’t be afraid, everything is under control,” he said.
“Everything is going on well. We had an incident that happened on Wednesday, May 29, at 7:40 p.m., and our security guards called. The emergency team of Maaha Beach Resort was able to help. The fire extended to other blocks, and we lost 18 rooms.”
He explained that the affected rooms were located on the far-right side of the facility, and out of approximately 190 rooms, only 18 were damaged, leaving the majority of the resort intact and fully functional.
During an inspection by the Ellembelle Office of the Environmental Protection Agency, Mr. Mass reiterated that the resort remains safe and serene for guests.
