Captain (Rtd) Denis Mahama Adams, father of the late Major Maxwell Mahama, has called for an end to mob justice as the family commemorates eight years since his brutal killing.

In a solemn tribute shared on the Ghana Armed Forces’ X page on May 29, 2025, the family was seen laying wreath at the grave of the fallen soldier.

Major Mahama was tragically lynched in Denkyira Obuasi, Central Region, on May 29, 2017 – a crime that shook the nation.

His father expressed deep gratitude to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) for their unwavering support since the tragedy that claimed his son’s life.

“We are here to honor Major Mahama and ensure his legacy continues to inspire the nation,” Captain (Rtd) Denis Mahama Adams stated.

He condemned mob justice, calling it an unacceptable practice that must end.

“I urge all Ghanaians to uphold the rule of law and reject such acts,” he said.

During the solemn ceremony at Osu Cemetery in Accra, family members took turns laying wreaths in remembrance of the late soldier.

The commemoration coincided with the 77th United Nations Day for Peacekeepers, a day dedicated to celebrating the courage of soldiers who risk their lives daily to safeguard citizens and maintain peace.
