Techimam Eleven have made lucrative steps to earn promotion back to the Ghanaian top-flight after three years following their 2-1 victory over RTU in the Zone 1 playoff final of the Access Bank Division One League.
Elsewhere, Swedru All Blacks and Hohoe United, formerly known as Liberty Professionals have also made their return to the Ghana Premier League via the automatic promotion spots with one game to spare.
In today’s encounter, the Sure Wonders had a great moment from the start of the game to beat the Zone 1A champions to end an 3-year exile from Ghana’s top division.
They stepped up with the opener through Frank Awere’s 15th-minute strike. The Techiman-based side were much improved after the opening goal but struggled to carve-out clear-cut opportunities in the first half.
However, RTU burst into life after half-time when Blabala won and converted a spot kick on the 67th minute.
But their hopes of returning to the Ghanaian top-flight after one-year were dealt a significant blow when Eleven Wonders attacker Ameyaw Farouk scored late from the spot to settle the match in the most dramatic way.
Prior to the game, RTU finished first in Zone 1A with 58 points, while Wonders also topped Zone 1B with 53 points after 28 games.
The supporters of Eleven Wonders will now find out who they will face first in the 2025/26 season and welcome GPL back to Techiman.
