The former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to put an end to internal politicking and focus on unity and victory.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the forecourt of EOCO in Accra, he warned that the party must move beyond factional disputes and come together to strengthen its chances of winning power in 2028.

“I am disappointed. I watched two videos, one of Alex Tetteh and another of a former Fomena Chairman. When issues like this arise, we should present a unified front. That is not the time to bring up personal problems or settle scores,” he said.

“If the NPP wants to win power, it must do so through unity. This is not the time to air grievances or pursue vendettas. We need to present a unified front,” he reiterated.

The former NPP flagbearer hopeful emphasised the need for all factions within the party to unite and work toward a common goal.

“In the last Parliament, anytime Ato Forson went to court, NDC MPs would wear red in solidarity. They would attend the court hearings and still show up in Parliament. But the same cannot be said for the NPP,” he observed.

“All the factions in the NPP must come together. We need solidarity and peace. The internal politics is too much. If we don’t learn from the NDC, we will remain in opposition for a long time,” he warned.

His comments come in the wake of a viral video in which an NPP member disclosed his role in the arrest of the party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

In the interview, Alex Kwaku Tetteh, a member of Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team, claimed that he provided critical information to authorities that led to Wontumi’s arrest.
