A violent clash between youth groups in Nsawam Adoagyiri, located in the Eastern Region, has resulted in two deaths and several injuries, according to the Ghana Police Service.
Police investigations indicate that the incident began with a shooting on May 20, 2025, in Adoagyiri, which left one person dead and another injured.
According to a police statement dated May 23, 2025, this incident triggered a reprisal attack involving approximately 300 youths. They blocked roads, burned tyres, and vandalized shops and vehicles in the area.
The retaliation led to three additional injuries, with the victims rushed to the hospital for treatment. One of the injured, Isaah Masawudu, later succumbed to his injuries, further escalating tensions.
Following his death, youths from Adoagyiri Zongo went on a rampage, intensifying the disturbances.
A reinforcement team from the National Police Headquarters and the National Formed Police Unit was deployed to the area and successfully restored calm.
The police stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend all individuals involved and ensure they face legal consequences.
The Ghana Police Service has urged the public to remain calm, assuring residents that measures have been put in place to maintain law and order in Adoagyiri and its surrounding communities.
