Nollywood actor Maurice Sam has publicly addressed recent rumors concerning his professional relationship with actress Regina Daniels. In a candid statement, Sam disclosed that he will no longer participate in any film projects that involve intimate or romantic scenes with Daniels, citing personal safety and respect for her marriage as the reasons behind his decision.
According to the actor, the situation unfolded about a month ago during a tense exchange with Regina Daniels’ husband, businessman and politician Ned Nwoko. Sam claimed that Nwoko directly confronted him and warned him against engaging in any form of romantic acting with his wife, including scenes that involved even the slightest physical affection. The tone of the warning, Sam suggested, was serious enough to raise concerns for his well-being.
“My life is very important to me, and I want to live long and in peace,” Sam said. He added that he was surprised by the reaction, as he had previously assumed Nwoko was supportive of Daniels’ career in Nollywood. However, the encounter made him realize that the businessman may not be entirely comfortable with his wife taking on certain roles in the industry.
Following the incident, the actor took proactive steps by informing film producers and directors not to cast him in roles opposite Daniels, especially in scenarios that involve romance. He emphasized that his decision was not fueled by animosity but by a desire to avoid being entangled in personal conflicts or contributing to marital issues.
“I don’t want to be the reason any married couple has problems,” he explained. “It’s better to step aside and maintain peace.”
