Accra, 21 May, GNA – The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has launched the fifth edition of the KGL Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship.
The championship is aimed to discover and nurture young talents for the development of football in the country.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, the President of GFA, said the championship embodies the dream of young boys which serve as a platform to showcase not only their talent but discipline and potential.
He said “the FA’s mission is to build from the ground to the up, nurturing young talents, equipping coaches, and strengthening the foundation of Ghana’s football eco-system.
“The championship is a celebration of youthful talents, regional pride and the enduring power of football to unit and to transform.
“We will continue to invest in the systems that will allow talents to grow, to be clotted and developed according to the principles of Ghana’s football DNA.”
The FA President added that with the support of the KGL Foundation and other committed stakeholders, the best years of youth football in Ghana had just begun.

“As part of FA’s 2024/2025 programme the association has taken a bold step to support colts football including the provision of footballs, trophies, and by ensuring that there is free registration up to ninety players per club for U13, U15 and U 15 categories.
“Through broad consultation at the national juvenile committee level and also working closely with RFAs we decided to accept the usage of the National Health Insurance card as a valid ID for player registration.”
He said the association would continue its gender balance capacity building for media officers and administrators work within the districts football association level.
Mr. Elliot Dadey, the Chief Executive Officer of the KGL Foundation, said since 2021 the Foundation has gone beyond providing kits and equipment.
He said, “we’ve invested in a belief system. Football has become a viable path for those young boys to chase their dreams.
