Current Price of Cement Revealed

In the past few days, many people on social media have been spreading news that the price of cement in Ghana has reduced sharply. According to the information going around, the price of a bag of cement had dropped from GHS130 to GHS82. This news brought excitement to many Ghanaians, especially those planning to build or start construction projects.

However, a recent investigation by Oyerepa FM has revealed that this information is not true. On Monday, 19th May 2025, reporters from the station contacted several cement dealers across the country to confirm the news. According to the dealers, the price of cement has not reduced. They explained that the current retail price of a bag of cement still ranges between GHS125 and GHS130.

The dealers described the social media reports as false and misleading. They urged the public to be careful and not believe everything they see online without checking the facts. They also explained that although the dollar rate has fallen recently, which many expected to cause a drop in prices of goods including cement, there has been no official price reduction yet from the manufacturing companies.

However, they added that if the cedi continues to perform well against the dollar, there is hope that cement prices may go down in the coming weeks. For now, though, they advised Ghanaians to note that the cost of cement remains the same.

This situation has caused confusion among many people who were hoping to benefit from cheaper cement prices. Some believe that manufacturers and sellers should quickly reduce prices to match the drop in the dollar rate.

So as of Monday, 19th May, 2025, cement prices have not reduced to GHS82 as claimed on social media. The current price still stands between GHS125 and GHS130. Ghanaians are advised to stay informed through trusted sources.
