Asante Kotoko delivered a statement performance in their Ghana Premier League title chase with a dominant 4–1 victory over Dreams FC on match week 31 at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, May 18, 2025.

Kwame Opoku was the star of the show, netting a brace to bring his season tally to nine goals, while Albert Amoah and Fernando also got on the scoresheet in a one-sided affair that saw the Porcupines brush aside the Still Believe lads in front of a roaring home crowd.

The hosts opened the scoring early through Albert Amoah in the 15th minute, before Opoku doubled the lead just before the break with a sharp finish from a Dauda Saka cross.

Though Amoah was substituted at halftime due to injury, Kotoko maintained their momentum.

Dreams briefly threatened a comeback when Jonathan Nemorden pulled one back in the 52nd minute, but Opoku responded almost immediately with a clinical strike that restored Kotoko’s two-goal cushion.

Substitute Fernando Bassey then sealed the win in the 71st minute, putting the result beyond doubt.

The win was particularly emotional for coach Abdulai Karim, who was forced to beat his former club to keep Kotoko’s title hopes alive.

The Porcupines are now just two points behind league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars, and their unbeaten run stretches to four matches.

For Dreams FC, the loss ends a three-game unbeaten streak and leaves them ninth on the table with only three matches remaining in the season.
