Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu, Attah Issah, has dismissed claims by the Minority Caucus on Parliament’s Finance Committee that Isaac Adongo’s dual role as Committee Chairman and board member of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) constitutes a conflict of interest.
Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News on Monday, May 19, Attah Issah argued that no constitutional or legal provision prohibits a sitting MP, including a committee chairperson, from serving on the board of the central bank.
“It has become so usual for the Minority to raise issues in public. The Honourable Adongo was appointed as the Chairman of the Finance Committee, and we have been conducting business from January up till now.
“There has been no single issue on the concerns raised by the Minority in terms of conflict of interest. All the things that the Minority has said, they could not point to one legal provision that indicates a breach,” he said.
Issah criticised the Minority’s decision to publicise their concerns, noting that such issues should have been handled internally within the Committee.
