Nkawie (Ash), May 19, GNA – Mr. Wisdom Osei Boamah, the newly confirmed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Atwima Nwabiagya South in the Ashanti Region, has pledged to work closely with community members to advance the development agenda of the Municipality.
Speaking at Nkawie after receiving unanimous confirmation from all 31 Assembly Members, Mr. Boamah emphasised the need for inclusive and community-driven governance.
He called on residents to prepare for broad stakeholder engagement under his leadership aimed at addressing local development needs.
“Let us work together to write a new chapter of progress, peace, and prosperity for our people,” he said.
While acknowledging the poor road network as a major challenge in the Municipality, the MCE noted that other sectors such as education, healthcare, and agriculture also required urgent intervention.
He stressed the importance of a collective approach, involving chiefs, opinion leaders, and all stakeholders, to find sustainable solutions.
Mr. Boamah expressed gratitude to the Assembly Members and stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him and assured them of his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of the people in the Municipality.
In a related development, Mr. John Nyamekye, Assembly Member for the Amanchia Electoral Area, was elected as the Presiding Member (PM) of the Assembly, securing 93.7 percent of the votes.
His election comes after two previous unsuccessful attempts.
Mr. Nyamekye thanked the Assembly Members for their support and promised to foster unity among members to drive development across the electoral areas.
Representing the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Baah Acheamfour, lauded the Assembly Members for their overwhelming endorsement of the two leaders.
He described their confirmation as a sign of respect and support for President John Dramani Mahama and his administration.
Mr. Acheamfour urged continued unity, cooperation, and mutual understanding within the Assembly to ensure effective governance and accelerated development in the Municipality.
