Nicholas, one of the lead people in the #FixTheCountry movement, died suddenly, which is very sad. Olive Barker-Vormawor, a close friend and fellow campaigner, told him the sad news in a touching Facebook post.
Based on what Oliver said, Nicholas started having health problems yesterday and sadly died that same day. A lot of people, including family, friends, and other activists, are very sad and can’t believe he died so quickly.
Nicholas used to be an active and vocal member of the #FixTheCountry movement. He was known for his unwavering commitment to pushing for systemic change in Ghana. He was involved with the group at first, but he finally stopped working with them because they had different political ideas. When the movement chose not to run for office in 2024, Nicholas didn’t agree. He was sure that getting political power was the only way to make real change. He himself said, “a revolution without power is just a show.” After becoming sure of this, he joined the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
After the elections, Nicholas reached out to Oliver, not to show his pride, but to reassure him that he still believed in the path he had chosen. Even though the two friends had different political views, they still respected each other. Oliver agreed that Nicholas was always honest and devoted to his beliefs, even when they caused trouble.
Oliver also told a funny story about Nicholas that showed how fiery he was. Nicholas made a funny joke when planning a protest against illegal mining: he would get people to stop the event if it was meant to hurt the NDC. This showed how intense, sometimes rude, but always honest he was as a person.
Nicholas died just as his political plans were starting to come true. People who knew him are still sad about his death and remembering the man who lived and fought with unwavering fire.
you
Nicholas, take it easy.
