Former Kotoko Express editor, Jerome Otchere, has called on Asante Kotoko’s management to appoint interim coach Abdul Karim Zito as the club’s permanent head coach ahead of next season.
Zito took over in an interim capacity following the exit of Prosper Narteh Ogum and has since steadied the ship, guiding the Porcupine Warriors to two wins and a draw in all competitions. His leadership has seen Kotoko reach the final of the MTN FA Cup and remain in the Ghana Premier League title race, just three points behind leaders Nations FC with four matches left to play.
Speaking to Luv FM, Otchere highlighted Zito’s pedigree, especially his recent exploits with Dreams FC in continental football, as a strong reason why he deserves to lead the team permanently.
“If I’m to speak from experience, it will make a lot of sense to keep Zito,” Otchere said. “If Kotoko wins the league or FA Cup, there’s a chance we will play in Africa. I am looking at a coach who just last season steered Dreams FC to the semi-finals of the Confederation Cup, and that was a big achievement.”
Karim Zito’s side will battle Division One League outfit Golden Kick FC in the MTN FA Cup final on June 15 at the University of Ghana Stadium, with a potential domestic double still in sight.
