Ghanaian entertainer and NPP member Fred Kyei Mensah has openly praised former President John Dramani Mahama for his support of the creative arts sector. Speaking in response to the launch of the Black Star Experience, Fred stated he no longer cares about criticism from his party and will continue to honor Mahama for his compassion toward aging artists.
“Mahama deserves praise for his empathy and support. I don’t care what others think. Whether politically motivated or not, he does it sincerely and from the heart,” he said.
He recalled being sent in 2017 by then-Minister Abla Dzifa Gomashie to visit the late actor Super OD, who asked him to thank Mahama for his kindness. Mahama, he noted, had supported many industry veterans including AB Crentsil, Grace Nortey, Paa George, Paapa Yankson, and others.
At the launch of the Black Star Experience, Mahama was joined by industry figures like Rex Omar, Abeiku Santana, KOD, and Dzifa Gomashie. Fred applauded the initiative as a boost to Ghana’s creative sector and urged recognition for legends like Agya Koo Nimo.
He concluded by calling on Ghanaians to commend leaders who uplift others, adding, “My 40 years in the industry won’t be sacrificed for politics. The arts deserve better.”
