Tensions have erupted within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following the emergence of a leaked audio tape allegedly featuring the voice of the party’s National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi. The recording, which has been widely shared online, has stirred controversy and internal discontent, prompting a stern reaction from Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer, the NDC’s Deputy Director of Elections and IT. He has denounced the leak as a deliberate act intended to create division and weaken the party’s internal cohesion.
Speaking in a radio interview on Monday, Dr. Tanko-Computer described the incident as “internal sabotage,” asserting that the motive behind the leak was not rooted in integrity or transparency. According to him, the goal was to smear Sammy Gyamfi’s character and disrupt the party’s organizational unity. “This was not an act of whistleblowing,” he stated emphatically. “It was a calculated attack against one of our most capable and dedicated communicators.”
While the authenticity of the audio recording has yet to be officially confirmed, its contents—allegedly involving sensitive strategic discussions concerning the NDC’s internal operations and its approach to the 2024 general elections—have sparked intense debates among party members and caught the attention of the wider public.
