Pecan Energies, in collaboration with its partners, has awarded full scholarships to 20 outstanding Ghanaian students for the 2024/2025 academic year under the Pecan Inspire Scholarship Programme (PISP).

The initiative, launched in 2020, has now supported 161 students from low-income households to pursue tertiary education, with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and related courses.

The scholarship package covers full tuition and lodging fees, provides a laptop for academic work, a semester stipend, and access to student development programs, including career and skills training, mentoring, and academic advising.

This year’s awards mark a significant milestone, as the programme celebrates its first cohort of graduates and achieves gender parity, with 50% of the beneficiaries being female and 50% male.

Mrs Kadijah Amoah, Chief Executive Officer of Pecan Energies Ghana Limited, emphasized the company’s commitment to equal access to education, stating that the milestone underscores their dedication to empowering both young men and women.

Among the recipients is Edward Tendeh, who delayed his tertiary education for a year due to financial constraints while supporting his mother, a fishmonger, and his four siblings.

Now pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Edward described the scholarship as “a promise that no matter where we come from, we have the power to rise above our circumstances.”

He expressed gratitude to Pecan Energies for investing in students’ futures and their communities.

The PISP is a flagship Corporate Social Responsibility initiative by Pecan Energies, owned by the Africa Finance Corporation, and its partners, Lukoil Overseas Ghana Tano Limited, the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, and Fueltrade Limited.
