Ablekuma North: Be calm and accept official EC results

The Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Kathleen Addy, has called on the constituents of Ablekuma North to remain calm and accept the outcome of the 2024 parliamentary election results when officially declared by the Electoral Commission (EC).

Ablekuma North remains the only constituency without a Member of Parliament, months after the 2024 general elections, due to unresolved disputes surrounding the outcome of the parliamentary vote.

Speaking at a press briefing organized by the Ghana Police Service on Thursday, May 8, 2025, Madam Addy emphasized the importance of respecting the democratic process.

“In every election, there is a winner and a loser, and I want to urge the people of Ghana, particularly the people of Ablekuma North, to accept the results as declared by the EC,” she stated.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, called on the EC to urgently outline a clear roadmap for completing the long-delayed collation of parliamentary election results in the Ablekuma North Constituency.

The IGP warned that further delays in resolving the impasse could have far-reaching implications for Ghana’s democratic credibility.
