Some of the youth who besieged the forecourt of the police station
A 20-year-old motorbike or ‘Okada’ rider identified as Paapa Kwofie, met his untimely demise last Monday when he was allegedly stabbed to death by a passenger he was transporting to a community near Samreboi in the Western Region.
The suspect, whose name was given only as Jacob, also known as ‘Jaybad,’ purportedly stabbed Kwofie with scissors in a bid to steal the deceased’s brand-new motorbike.
According to information gathered, on Monday, May 5, 2025, around 8pm, the suspect boarded Kwofie’s motorbike and asked the rider to take him to a community called Ohiapenika.
Some of the residents disclosed that on their way, Jaybad removed the scissors from his pocket and stabbed Kwofie at his back, demanding that Kwofie get down and hand over his new motorbike to him.
DAILY GUIDE gathered that the deceased refused to hand over the motorbike, and the suspect continued to stab Kwofie several times till he died.
Jaybad then took the motorbike to Ohiapenika but could not run away with it as some youth who knew the motorbike belonged to Kwofie gave him a hot chase, after suspecting him to have stolen the bike.
The suspect, sensing danger, ran to the chief’s palace and was later handed over to the police.
The youth, who later learnt that the suspect had killed Kwofie, besieged the forecourt of the Samreboi Police Station in their numbers and demanded that the suspect be handed over to them to be burnt alive.
This resulted in some kind of confrontation with the police, and a reinforcement had to be called. Later, several warning shots were fired to disperse the teeming youth.
The police later managed to transport the suspect to the Asankrangwa District Command, from where he will be put before court soon.
