Linda Ocloo accuses MMDCE aspirants of undermining Mahama’s nominees

Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has accused some shortlisted Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executive (MMDCE) aspirants of influencing assembly members to vote against presidential nominees.

Her comments follow the Shai Osudoku District Assembly’s rejection of Ignatius Godfred Dordoe, the President’s nominee for District Chief Executive. Dordoe secured 17 out of 32 votes, falling short of the required number for confirmation.

Speaking to journalists in Accra on Monday, May 5, Ocloo issued a strong warning, “If assemblies fail to confirm the President’s nominees, no new candidates will be considered for those roles.

“If we should instigate people not to vote for the presidential nominee by disgracing the president, if you think because your name is shortlisted, you will be appointed, it’s a lie. We’ll make sure that if you don’t appoint the nominee, those shortlisted we will also make sure that they will not be appointed.

“Even if we have to reappoint someone we will go outside the box to do that. We are not going to advise. We are going to re-present the candidate…Even if thousand times, we are going to re-present the candidate,” she said.
