Ghanaian actress Gifty Arthur popularly known as Gyimidi has shared a traumatic experience she went through just when she was being noticed in the movie industry.
In an interview with Zionfelix on May 5, 2025, Gyimidi noted that her sudden silence in the creative space was due to a sickness she had been battling for almost 6 months.
“The reason why people didn’t hear from me was because I was battling a sickness for almost 6 months. Some people could ask me why I wasn’t acting anymore. I changed drastically. I was having a spine issue so I couldn’t sit for more than 30 continues. But by his grace I am fine now and fully active in the movie industry,” she said.
She further narrated the pain she went through during the sudden demise of her mother.
“My mother passed on October 16 after celebrating her birthday. She wasn’t sick, I had spoken to her that evening and she told me she wasn’t feeling well. I then asked my brothers to take her to the hospital. I called later that evening only to find out she was dead. My mother was the one person who normally prayed for me every March but this March I didn’t receive a call from anyone.
“My mother’s death has really affected me. I am who I am because of her. Her advice has happened to me a lot,” she added.
