The Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has inaugurated a new nine-member Board of Directors for the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), urging them to lead with integrity and spearhead efforts to enhance domestic revenue mobilisation.
The newly inaugurated board is chaired by George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, a former Deputy Finance Minister and current Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South.
Commissioner of the GRA, Anthony Sarpong, also serves as a board member.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on April 30, 2025, Dr Forson highlighted the pivotal role of the GRA in Ghana’s national development agenda, noting that the successful implementation of government policies is largely dependent on the Authority’s ability to generate sufficient revenue.
“It is time to look within and aggressively raise domestic revenue to support government expenditure,” he remarked.
The Minister of Finance tasked the board to prioritise transparency, innovation, and fiscal responsibility in their operations, and to take bold and strategic steps to expand the tax net.
He also called for urgent and decisive measures to tackle smuggling activities across Ghana’s borders, which continue to undermine revenue efforts.
The new GRA board is expected to provide strategic oversight, guide policy implementation, and support ongoing reforms aimed at making the Authority more efficient, responsive, and digitally driven.
