Nuru Hamidan, the Deputy Managing Director of Intercity STC, has criticised the previous government over its management of the state transport company.

According to him, the company’s current state amounts to an organization that exists in name only, lacking any real functionality.

He asserted that the company struggles to provide buses for its passengers, as most of the buses purchased by the previous administration have broken down.

“STC is just an organization on paper but let us not be scared because the good thing is that John Dramani Mahama has a plan for the STC that is going to resurrect it. It is like a dead person being resurrected,” he said.

Speaking in an interview on Accra FM, which has been shared widely on social media, Nuru Hamidan assured the public that former President John Dramani Mahama has plans to revive the company through competent leadership.

“The good thing is that John Dramani Mahama has appointed competent people to manage the firm. If I say STC is dead, how can you run a transportation company without buses? And the buses that were bought, 100 Daewoo buses in 2020, are mostly non-functional.”

He further stated that some of the buses that have been with the company for more than 10 years are functioning better than those recently procured during the tenure of former Managing Director Nana Akomea.

“As I speak, we struggle to get even 30 buses on the road because most of them have broken down.

“How do you procure buses without a proper servicing arrangement? Nuamah Donkor left 50 buses, and these people added 100, but even Nuamah Donkor’s buses, which are over ten years old, are the ones helping us,” he added.
