The Council of State Member representing the Volta Region, Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, has met with Sir Sam Jonah as they both joined others in conversations on tourism, investments, and collaboration.

The two leaders met at a diplomatic gathering at the Embassy of Greece over the weekend.

Making this known in a post he shared on his Facebook page, Kwamigah-Atokple stated that this was after he ha joined other dignitaries at the commemoration of the 65th independence day celebrations of Togo in Accra.

The event, which took place at the Togo High Commission at Cantonments, in Accra, according to him, “intertwined histories and futures, it was a strong reminder that building economic, political, social, and cultural ties remains essential, especially for those of us sharing direct boundaries with Togo.”

He also added that in his meeting with Sir Sam Jonah later, they discussed issues surrounding Greece-Ghana partnerships and the future of investments in the Volta Region.

“I attended another important diplomatic gathering at the Embassy of Greece, on conversations on Tourism, Investment, and collaboration.

“In attendance was Sir Sam Jonah. I also had a tete-a-tete with Hon. Harry Theoharis who was the former Minister of Tourism, former Deputy Minister of Finance, and currently a Member of the Hellenic (Greek) Parliament,” he added.

The US Department of State also conveyed warm congratulations to the people of Togo, stating, “On behalf of the United States of America, I extend warm congratulations to the people of Togo on the 65th year of your independence. On this occasion, we proudly reaffirm our continued partnership and friendship with the people and government of Togo. I look forward to broadening our collaboration on a wide range of initiatives that further security and prosperity for both our nations. I look forward to working together to build even stronger ties in the years ahead.”

Earlier today, I had the distinct honour of joining the High Commissioner of the Togolese Republic, H.E. Awoki Panassa and his spouse, at a reception celebrating the 65th Anniversary of Togo’s independence at the High Commission in Cantonments, Accra.

It was a privilege to stand alongside colleagues, friends, and dignitaries, in affirming the bonds of brotherhood between Ghana and Togo. As neighbours with intertwined histories and futures, it was a strong reminder that building economic, political, social, and cultural ties remains essential, especially for those of us sharing direct boundaries with Togo.

Later this evening, I attended another important diplomatic gathering at the Embassy of Greece, on conversations on Tourism, Investment and collaboration .

In attendance was Sir Sam Jonah. I also had a tete-a-tete with Hon. Harry Theoharis who was the former Minister of Tourism, former Deputy Minister of Finance, and currently a Member of the Hellenic (Greek) Parliament.

Mr. Theoharis, who is contesting for the position of Secretary-General of UN Tourism, shared with me his vision for global tourism and development.

We discussed the growing Greece-Ghana partnership, particularly in tourism, trade, and cultural exchange. I also highlighted tourism opportunities in the Volta Region that could drive mutual economic benefits.

I sincerely thank Mr. Theoharis for his openness and dedication to global tourism. I humbly encourage all delegates to support his candidacy.

I look forward to building on these relationships for greater cooperation and shared progress.
