“People Listen to You More Than Politicians” – Agyapong to Clergy on Economic Reform

Former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has called on religious leaders to actively support Ghana’s economic transformation through strategic collaboration with political leaders as reported by Ghana Web.

His remarks came during the Easter Sunday Service on April 20, 2025, at Calvary Methodist Church, Adabraka, in Accra.

Agyapong, a prominent figure within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), highlighted the influential role pastors play in shaping public opinion and morals.

According to him, the voice of the clergy carries significant weight in Ghanaian society, making them crucial partners in the national development agenda.

“People listen to you, Pastors and Men of God, more than they listen to politicians,” he stated, stressing the need to harness this influence for economic and social reforms.

Drawing from a sermon by renowned preacher Dr. Mensa Otabil, Agyapong echoed the sentiment that attitude change remains pivotal to national progress.

He urged pastors to emphasize values such as discipline, patriotism, and integrity, which he believes are essential to transforming the nation’s fortunes.

The former MP emphasized that development is a collective responsibility and can only be achieved if both the pulpit and the political arena work hand in hand.

He encouraged religious leaders not to shy away from national conversations but to contribute meaningfully to shaping the country’s direction.

Agyapong was accompanied by his wife, Christiana Agyapong, two daughters, current and former Members of Parliament, NPP constituency executives, and close associates.
