Sleeping Around With Married Women–Prof. Oquaye Report Says Moral Scandals Crippled NPP Base

When your own party report admits your candidates were sleeping around with married women, you know the damage was deep.

According to page 27 of the Prof. Mike Oquaye post-election report, shared by Nii Kpakpo Samoa Addo, moral scandals among parliamentary candidates and appointees had a devastating effect on party morale.

“70% of 42 female NPP members under 35 polled… viewed the parliamentary candidate as ‘sleeping around with married women.’”

One case in the Western Region involved a candidate having an affair with a constituency executive’s wife.

“It repeatedly came up as a factor that drove apathy within the party.”

The report warns that while some may dismiss such issues as gossip, they had real electoral consequences — weakening regional support and alienating core organizers, especially women.

“The committee was drawn to at least six high-profile appointees… implicated in scandals involving extramarital affairs… and misuse of campaign funds to finance romantic liaisons.”

In short, the NPP’s defeat wasn’t just policy failure, it was a failure of character.
