The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has released the latest prices for its new investment initiative, the Ghana Gold Coin, as of April 17, 2025.
The Central Bank introduced the coin to discourage the hoarding of U.S. dollars.
As of April 17, 2025, the Bank reported the following prices:
• The 0.25 oz coin is selling at GH¢13,975.84, up from GH¢13,567.20 the previous day.
• The 0.50 oz coin is selling at GH¢27,061.19, up from GH¢26,261.91.
• The 1.00 oz coin is now priced at GH¢53,294.75, an increase from GH¢51,696.18 the day before.
According to the Central Bank, this initiative aims to absorb excess liquidity in the market and strengthen the local currency against major foreign currencies.
The Ghana Gold Coin is available in three denominations: one-ounce, half-ounce, and quarter-ounce. These coins are being sold through commercial banks.
“The Ghana Gold Coin is manufactured from gold mined in Ghana and refined to 99.99 percent purity. It is issued and guaranteed by the Bank of Ghana,” the Bank stated.
