Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra has named Isaac Okpoti Adjei as its new General Manager, making him the first Ghanaian to hold the role since the hotel’s reopening in 2011.
This landmark appointment marks a significant milestone for the internationally acclaimed five-star hotel.
Strategically located in Accra’s central business district and nestled within 16 acres of landscaped gardens, Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel is Ghana’s premier international luxury hotel and a flagship property of the Accor Group.
Known for its 260 stylish rooms and suites, the largest lagoon-style pool in the city, and an impressive collection of over 1,500 African artworks, the hotel seamlessly blends business, leisure, and culture.
Originally built in the 1950s as the historic Ambassador Hotel and gifted to the Ghanaian government, the hotel was transformed into a modern symbol of hospitality.
Adjei’s appointment reflects this legacy—bringing both local leadership and global experience to the forefront of Accor’s mission in the region.
With over 20 years in the Accor network, Adjei began his career at Novotel Accra. He has since held various roles spanning Operations, Commercial, and Learning & Development, and has worked on key projects across Africa and the Caribbean for Accor’s luxury, premium, and economy brands.
As a Certified Accor Trainer, he has played a pivotal role in mentoring talent and strengthening service standards.
Notably, Adjei was a member of Mövenpick Accra’s pre-opening team, instrumental in shaping the hotel’s identity. His return after a series of international assignments reaffirms his strong connection to the property.
He most recently served as Executive Assistant Manager before stepping into the General Manager role.
Adjei holds a First-Class degree in Social Sciences from KNUST, a Master of Philosophy in French from the University of Ghana, a Bachelor of Laws from GIMPA, and a Qualifying Certificate of Law from the Ghana School of Law. He is married with two sons and is deeply committed to leadership development and service excellence.
Accor leadership praised the appointment. “We are delighted to see Isaac take on this important leadership role,” said Paul Stevens, COO for Middle East, Africa & Turkey at Accor.
“His deep understanding of the brand and passion for service make him the ideal leader to guide Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra into its next chapter.”
This appointment underscores Accor’s commitment to nurturing local talent and promoting diversity in leadership across its global operations.
