According to a report from GhanaWeb, Kwadwo Twum Boafo, a key figure within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has raised concerns over what he sees as a pattern of persistent criticism from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) directed at the administration of President John Dramani Mahama.
He believes the opposition’s frequent allegations are fueled by a desire to uncover scandals where none exist.
Boafo pointed to the recent controversy involving Airmed as an example, accusing the NPP of making deliberate efforts to discredit the current government.
He called on the opposition party to abandon such tactics, emphasizing that the current leadership has maintained a clean record since assuming office.
Rather than attempting to fabricate wrongdoing, Boafo suggested the NPP should cooperate with the government for the sake of national progress.
In his response to recent accusations made by Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, the MP for Assin South, Boafo dismissed attempts to link the administration to drug trafficking or illegal financial dealings.
He criticized Fordjour’s approach, suggesting it was a failed attempt to imitate the investigative style of North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who was known for exposing misconduct during the previous administration.
Boafo challenged Fordjour to take any credible information he may have to the appropriate investigative bodies, including national intelligence and the inter-ministerial security task force.
“He wanted to turn himself into Okudzeto, but he can never be like Okudzeto. He doesn’t have any evidence; all he does is spread scandal,” he said.
He further accused the MP of hiding behind parliamentary privilege to avoid accountability and questioned his willingness to cooperate with law enforcement if summoned.
