The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has said that President John Dramani Mahama won the election through democratic means, not a coup d’état and so he should act accordingly.

He said that when former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia conceded defeat to Mahama in the 2024 presidential election, it served as a means to preserve national harmony amid growing tensions.

This admission came after the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) stormed the house of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin South, John Ntim Fordjour, on the suspicious flight allegations he made recently, supposedly to arrest him.

Speaking on Movement TV on April 10, 2025, and monitored by GhanaWeb, Boakye said that the NIB’s actions are a threat to all Members of Parliament and citizens of the country.

“We are not safe anymore. Anybody at all can put on mask and a tag of NIB, and raid, storm the homes of MPs. People can copy this act and start doing the same without a warrant, and it is a threat to the lives of the ordinary Ghanaian. It will breed armed robbery. It is a recipe for chaos,” he indicated.

He added that what the NIB did was a breach of privilege and immunity.

Henry Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, emphasised that there is a need for proper procedures to solve the issue.

“Any grievances should be addressed to the Speaker of Parliament. We will cooperate if they do things the right way, we are not intimidated,” he stated.
