A tense exchange took place on JoyNews’ Newsfile as the controversy deepened over claims made by Assin South MP, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour. The lawmaker alleged that two aircraft linked to possible drug trafficking and money laundering operations had entered Ghanaian airspace.

Sammy Gyamfi, National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), called for Rev. Fordjour’s immediate arrest, insisting he must either validate his claims or face legal repercussions.

“In any serious jurisdiction, such baseless accusations against a sitting government would carry consequences,” Gyamfi stated. He argued that if the MP refuses a summons from National Security, he must be apprehended and made to produce credible proof.

“If he ignores the National Security invitation, thinking his parliamentary immunity will protect him, he’s mistaken. He must be arrested and compelled to justify his statements,” Gyamfi asserted.

However, Rev. Fordjour, who is also the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence Committee, pushed back strongly.

“Sammy, go ahead and call them to arrest me—right now, on this show,” the MP replied defiantly.

This heated debate follows the Minority’s request for more transparency from National Security regarding a private jet and an air ambulance that reportedly stayed in Ghana for several days before heading to Gran Canaria in Spain.

Rev. Fordjour alleged, based on intelligence reports, that these aircraft may have been transporting illegal drugs and large amounts of foreign currency, possibly U.S. dollars.

In response, government officials, including the Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, dismissed the MP’s claims as unfounded, accusing him of spreading misinformation without credible sources.
