A major counterfeit operation has been uncovered in Sapeiman, near Accra, with the discovery of Bank of Ghana-labeled cash boxes on the premises, raising serious concerns about the scale and sophistication of the operation.

National Security operatives, who led the raid, confirmed the bust and disclosed that a manhunt is currently underway for a key suspect identified only as “Alhaji.” He is believed to be the mastermind behind the counterfeit activities.

Authorities are yet to reveal the total value of the fake currency seized or the exact number of individuals involved. However, sources indicate that significant quantities of counterfeit notes and printing equipment were retrieved during the operation.

The discovery of official-looking Bank of Ghana cash boxes has intensified suspicions of possible internal collusion or the use of highly convincing imitations to facilitate the fraudulent scheme.

National Security has assured the public that investigations are ongoing and has called on citizens to volunteer any information that could lead to the arrest of “Alhaji” and any accomplices involved in the operation.

More details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
