In a recent interview with UTV Ghana, a prominent security analyst questioned the legitimacy of President John Dramani Mahama’s directive for an investigation into an alleged mysterious drug flight, labeling the order as “merely an April Fool.” The analyst expressed skepticism about the president’s involvement, suggesting it was highly unusual for him to personally intervene in such matters.

The security expert explained that typically, such investigations would be handled by Ghana’s intelligence agencies rather than the president himself. “It wouldn’t require the president to step in,” he stated. “If intelligence agencies were doing their job properly, there would be no need for the president to get involved.” He further emphasized that any posts or announcements made on platforms like Facebook were not credible unless confirmed by official communication from the presidency.

The analyst dismissed the authenticity of the claim until an official statement was issued by the presidency. “Without an official communication, signed by the executive secretary or a presidential aide, any such post is merely propaganda,” he said. “At best, it could have been an April Fool’s joke, and you should verify with the presidency whether the president indeed gave such an order.”

The interview, which was posted on UTV Ghana’s official Instagram account on April 3, 2025, has sparked a heated public debate. Many have raised concerns about the legitimacy of the president’s alleged directive and are eagerly awaiting an official response from the presidency regarding the matter. The investigation into the mysterious drug flight continues to capture the public’s attention, and the situation remains a topic of considerable interest.
