I Will Expose NPP With The Receipts If They Fail To Tell Us The Truth – Saddick Adams speaks

Prominent Ghanaian journalist Saddick Adams has weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding the implementation of the betting tax in Ghana. The issue has sparked heated debate over whether the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was responsible for introducing the tax.

During the presentation of the 2025 budget by Hon. Cassiel Ato Forson under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, it was announced that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government intends to abolish the betting tax that had been put in place by the previous administration.

In response, former Finance Minister Hon. Amin Adams, who served under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, denied that the NPP government had implemented any such tax. However, Saddick Adams challenged that claim during an appearance on Angel TV on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

Adams revealed that he had received numerous receipts from individuals across Ghana showing that their betting earnings had been taxed. He explained that he had sparked the conversation on his X (formerly Twitter) account, prompting many users to share evidence supporting the claim that the NPP government did, in fact, enforce the betting tax.

“I have collected receipts from various people proving that the NPP government imposed a tax on betting earnings,” Adams said. “If the NPP administration did not implement this policy, they should be honest with Ghanaians and say so. But the evidence clearly shows that individuals who placed bets had their winnings taxed.”

His remarks have added fuel to the debate as more Ghanaians demand clarity on the origin and enforcement of the controversial betting tax.
