30-year-old pregnant woman killed by truck, family demands justice

A 30-year-old pregnant woman, Susana Fosuaa Agyeman, has tragically died after an articulated truck with the registration number AS 636-14, carrying wood, struck and killed her.

The incident occurred around 4:30 PM on Friday, April 4, 2025, in Noberkow, in the Asunafo South District of the Ahafo Region.

Her body was torn into pieces, with intestines, liver, and the unborn baby exposed, and blood oozing. Her remains were conveyed with a shovel and deposited at the morgue.

Williams Asare, an eyewitness at the scene, recounted, “We were seated at the Indomie vendor’s stall when we heard a loud noise. A speeding articulated truck came down the road and blew its horn once. At the same time, the pregnant woman got out of a taxi, and we shouted to her to move. She tried to step back but fell to the ground. The truck couldn’t stop and ran over her, causing a terrible accident.”

Her mother, Afia Fremah, medically unfit, is broken, shattered, and torn apart. She said, “The truck crushed onto my pregnant daughter, causing severe injuries. Her internal organs and unborn baby were exposed.

“Unfortunately, she died on the spot. She had gone to the market to sell goods when the accident occurred. The driver, responsible for her death, fled the scene. I hold him accountable and leave his actions to God.”

“My late daughter’s three young children are still in school, and their future is uncertain. As their grandmother, I’m struggling to care for them due to my poor health and financial difficulties. I’m humbly appealing to kind-hearted individuals and charitable organizations for support to help raise these children.”

Mr. Kofi Agyeman, Susuna’s father, is speechless. He also said, “We were deeply disturbed, stunned, and grief-stricken when we heard that our relative, a dedicated single mother who worked tirelessly to provide for her children, had been fatally struck by a vehicle.

“By the time we arrived at the scene, the police had already taken her body to the morgue. When we saw her lifeless body at the mortuary, it was a heart-wrenching moment that was hard to accept.”

Although the driver and his mate are on the run, Kwame Agala demands justice for his cousin.

“The owner and driver of the truck involved in the accident have not contacted us, and they appear to have fled the scene. It’s unclear whether they’ve surrendered to the police. We intend to take all necessary steps to seek justice for our deceased loved one and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.”
