KNUST student allegedly murdered by boyfriend to be laid to rest April 5

Joana Deladem Yabani, a student of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), who was tragically murdered recently, will be laid to rest tomorrow, April 5, 2025.

The burial service will take place at the Jehovah Shammah Assemblies of God Church in New Ashongman, Accra, at 8:30 am.

Joana’s death on February 27, 2025, shocked the nation, with reports indicating that she was allegedly killed by her boyfriend under unclear circumstances.

Her body was discovered near the university’s Rehabilitation and Disability Centre after she had visited campus to study for her mid-semester examination.

The suspect, Daniel Tuffour, is currently facing trial in connection with the case, which has sparked widespread outrage and calls for justice.

Joana is survived by her parents, Dr. John B.K. Yabani and Mrs. Rejoice Amakie Yabani, along with eight siblings. A thanksgiving service in her memory is scheduled for April 13, 2025, at the same church.

The incident has sparked renewed calls for stricter campus safety measures. Authorities are still investigating as the nation mourns the tragic loss of a young life.
