The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has urged road users to exercise caution and responsibility during the upcoming Eid ul-Fitr celebrations to prevent road crashes and ensure an incident-free festive period.
In a statement, the Authority extended its congratulations to the Muslim community in Ghana for their dedication and perseverance throughout the 30-day fasting period.
It acknowledged the values of spirituality, discipline, and compassion demonstrated during Ramadan, emphasizing their importance in promoting road safety.
“As we approach the joyous occasion of Eid ul-Fitr, the Authority joins in the celebrations with prayers for peace, good health, and the desired attitude to deliver safety during the festive time,” the statement read.
With increased movement and activities expected on the roads, the NRSA cautioned against dangerous driving behaviours such as overloading, speeding, and reckless riding.
“It also urged pedestrians to avoid jaywalking and to use designated crossing points, such as zebra crossings and pedestrian footbridges, to prevent accidents.
The NRSA reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to enhance road safety during and after the festivities.
