I haven’t been charged with any crime

Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), has firmly stated that he has not been charged with any crime despite ongoing investigations into alleged financial misconduct during his tenure.

The case has drawn significant public interest, with widespread speculation about Adu-Boahene’s involvement in alleged embezzlement, fraud, and illicit financial transactions.

However, he has maintained his innocence, emphasizing that no formal charges have been filed against him.

The Accra High Court, on Friday, March 28, reduced his bail condition from GHS120 million to GHS80 million. His wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, remains on an GHS80 million bail, with two sureties required to be justified.

Both are required to report to the Economic and Organised Office (EOCO) three times a week, and their travel has been restricted, requiring prior approval from EOCO.

Adu-Boahene, who served as NSB Director-General from 2017 until February 2025, has been under scrutiny for alleged financial irregularities, including accusations of diverting millions of Ghanaian cedis into personal accounts.

Despite these claims, he insists that he has not been formally accused of any wrongdoing.

ā€œI have not been charged with anything yet, none whatsoever,ā€ Adu-Boahene said in an interview after the Accra High Court ruling.

When asked whether he believed he would be cleared of any wrongdoing, he responded confidently, ā€œDefinitely yes.ā€
