Germany has expressed its readiness to proceed with the signing of bilateral agreements aimed at supporting Ghana’s financial stability.
The German Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Daniel Krull, made this known after a meeting with Ghana’s Minister of Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson.
Ambassador Krull commended the government’s efforts in addressing economic challenges and described the engagement as insightful.
During the meeting, Forson reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fulfilling the conditions set under the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme. He assured that his administration is actively addressing gaps left by the previous government, especially regarding missed structural benchmarks.
“We have taken concrete steps to correct the structural benchmarks that were missed under the previous government, and the results will soon be evident,” Forson stated.
On Ghana’s ongoing debt restructuring, Forson emphasised that the country has made significant progress and is now focused on finalising individual bilateral agreements with its external creditors. He appealed for Germany’s support in expediting the process, noting that securing these agreements is crucial for Ghana’s economic recovery.
In response, Ambassador Krull reiterated Germany’s support for Ghana’s economic recovery efforts and expressed confidence in the government’s reform agenda.
Ghana’s collaboration with the IMF is part of broader efforts to restore macroeconomic stability and ensure sustainable growth.
The government remains optimistic that ongoing reforms and international support will help position the country on a stronger economic path.
