Private legal practitioner Austin Kwabena Brako-Powers has strongly criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing it of trying to protect corrupt officials from the previous Akufo-Addo administration as reported by MyNewsGH.
Brako-Powers asserted that corruption was deeply rooted in Akufo-Addo’s government and called on President John Dramani Mahama to take decisive steps to investigate and prosecute those responsible.
He specifically highlighted the School Feeding Programme as an area that required urgent scrutiny.
“We all know that President Akufo-Addo’s government is the most corrupt regime Ghana has had since independence,” he stated in an interview with 3News’ KeyPoints, adding that any efforts to shield corrupt individuals should be resisted in the public interest.
According to him, internal tensions within the NPP have worsened following the party’s defeat in the 2024 elections, as many members feel their concerns are being overlooked.
He warned that unresolved grievances could weaken the party further.
Brako-Powers insisted that accountability should be a priority under Mahama’s leadership.
He stressed that those implicated in corruption, particularly within government programs, must face legal action.
“President Mahama has to investigate the operations of the School Feeding Programme under Akufo-Addo and prosecute anyone found to have engaged in or benefited from any underhand dealings,” he added.
His comments come amid growing calls for transparency and accountability in governance, with many urging the new administration to take action against corruption.
