Kennedy Nyarko Osei, Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, has refuted claims that former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo used his authority to silence critics or political opponents.
According to Ghana Web on Thursday, March 20, 2025, He emphasized that the former leader upheld democratic principles, allowing free speech and open criticism.
According to Osei, despite accusations of tyranny, Akufo-Addo never unfairly wielded his powers against journalists or opponents.

Expressing concern over recent developments, he warned that the country could face instability if government actions continue on their current trajectory.
He urged authorities to follow due legal processes instead of resorting to what he described as intimidation tactics.

He assured that the Minority would resist any form of political oppression.
“The Minority will stand up to any intimidation and safeguard the constitution of this country,” he added, reaffirming their commitment to preventing a return to a culture of silence.
