Dr. Addison Installed a Secret Monitoring Device At BoG And Connected It To His Bedroom- Lawyer

A National Security operative and lawyer, Nii Kpakpo Samoa Addo, has alleged that Dr. Ernest Addison, former governor of the Bank of Ghana, installed a secret monitoring system and connected it to his bedroom that allowed him to remotely oversee operations at the central bank.

In a Facebook post, Nii Kpakpo Samoa Addo claimed that Dr. Addison had access to real-time surveillance of management meetings, staff movements, vault operations, and cash transactions from his bedroom. He alleged that the governor used this system to influence decisions based on live monitoring of activities at the Bank of Ghana.

Following a tip-off about cash movement at Dr. Ernest Addison’s residence, National Security operatives, armed with a court-issued search warrant, conducted a search of his home. Addo stated that the team removed CCTV cameras and other high-tech monitoring devices reportedly installed by the governor.

“Dr. Addison installed a back door system that ultimately monitors everything that happens at Bank of Ghana. In fact, in the comfort of his home, monitors mgt meetings, staff movements, vault and cash movements etc, and there’s the need to stop him. In effect, he’s at home calling the shots, based upon what he sees on his monitoring devices, he will call staff members for details.

In addition to some other activities that he’s alleged to have been engaged in, including cash movements in his house upon tipoff, the National Security decided to remove the CCTV cameras and other high tech monitoring devices he installed in his house.

Please note that, National Security went to the house with a search warrant from the court to do a specific search, and that’s exactly what they did, nothing more, nothing less” he wrote on Facebook.

Neither Dr. Addison nor Bank of Ghana has officially responded to the allegations. The development comes at a time of heightened scrutiny of the central bank’s former leadership and financial management.
