Minority Leader of Parliament, Hon. Alexander Kwabena Afenyo-Markin has narrated how Mr. Kwabena Adu Boahen was picked up by EOCO at the airport to an unknown location, and incident he has described as political persecution.
In a Facebook post, the Effutu member of parliament explained in details how the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau was coerced into his arrest.
“Mr Kwabena Adu Boahene, former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, arrived in Ghana from London Heathrow on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at approximately 8:30 PM on a British Airways flight.
Upon arrival at the CIP, he went through immigration formalities. While patiently waiting in the lounge for his baggage, an immigration officer informed him that there was an issue with his name that needed to be rectified at the main office in Terminal 3 Departures. He was also told that he needed to have a discussion with the Immigration Boss.
Mr Adu Boahene willingly followed the officer to the Immigration office at Terminal 3 Departures. After about 10 minutes, he was informed that he was on EOCO’s stop list and was wanted accordingly.
Deputy Director of EOCO, Raymond Archer, who was personally present, along with his team, then handcuffed Mr Adu Boahene at the departures area and escorted him through the Airport Departure Hall with approximately six officers.
He was pushed into a white Nissan Navara pickup with registration number GN 8850-22, accompanied by fully armed men. Another Navara pickup and a white Toyota Corolla also escorted him. At about 9:47 PM, he was whisked away to an unknown location.”
