Prof. Ransford Gyampo, a lecturer at the University of Ghana and Secretary of the University Teachers Association (UTAG), has declared his intention to take legal action against Salam Mustapha, the National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
His decision follows Mustapha’s recent claim that Gyampo is aligned with the NDC’s agenda to disrupt academic activities through a UTAG strike. Gyampo has strongly refuted these allegations, calling them “baseless and defamatory.”
In a social media post, he expressed frustration over similar accusations he has endured over the past five years. While he previously avoided legal action against what he described as “men of straw,” he now feels compelled to act due to Mustapha’s influential position.
Gyampo stated that his lawyers are ready to proceed with the lawsuit and emphasized his commitment to seeking justice, regardless of the outcome.
He insisted that Mustapha must provide evidence to support his claims and reaffirmed his trust in the legal system. “I believe in the courts, and I am confident that justice will be served,” he said.
Encouraging his followers to share his message, Gyampo signaled his determination to hold Mustapha accountable.
This legal move adds to the ongoing political tensions in Ghana, particularly concerning the intersection of academia and political influence.
