Speaking on Onua TV’s Maakye show, popular media personality Captain Smart, after returning to work, delivered a strong message to journalists in Ghana. He accused them of failing to be truthful to Ghanaians about the state of the nation, claiming that many are more focused on the money they receive from political party leaders. Captain Smart stated that his observations of journalists across various media platforms in Ghana have confirmed this behaviour, which he finds deeply troubling.
He declared, “You (journalists) are a disgrace for not telling Ghanaians the truth about the country. Most of you remain silent while illegal mining (galamsey) destroys our water bodies, and many of you lack the courage to defend the people of Ghana. I have been observing you, and it’s clear that most of you only care about the money you get from your political party leaders. I am a man of truth, and no one can stop me from speaking the truth to Ghanaians because I am not like you.”
Captain Smart emphasised that many journalists in Ghana lack the boldness to speak the truth, unlike him. He stressed that the media space belongs to everyone, and journalists have a responsibility to stand up and speak out against issues that harm the people of Ghana.
