In a recent national address, President John Dramani Mahama congratulated Honorable Samuel Nartey George on his appointment as Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation. The President emphasized that George now shoulders the critical task of ensuring that Ghana’s robust communication systems—long a cornerstone of the nation—continue to thrive and evolve under his stewardship.
“We have the responsibility to advance Ghanaian communication and digitalization,” Mahama stated. “The country’s communications sector has grown steadily over the years, and you, as the new Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation, are expected not only to sustain this progress but also to implement policies that will further expand the sector.”
Sam George, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, is well known for his vocal advocacy on education, healthcare, and governance, as well as his commitment to representing the interests of his constituents. A steadfast critic of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), George has built a reputation for challenging authority and speaking out against policies he deems detrimental.
The President’s message comes on the heels of a turbulent political journey. After facing defeats in the 2016 and 2020 elections, Mahama secured a comeback victory in the 2024 elections, with Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang serving as his Vice President.
This new chapter for Sam George is seen as a significant opportunity to drive further growth and innovation in Ghana’s communications and digital sectors.
