The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has sent a message to Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin following his recent action on TV3, despite party’s decision to boycott Media General’s activities.
During a live discussion on TV3’s morning show on February 22, 2025, lawyer Martin Kpebu and other panelists made claims that Afenyo-Markin was moving with a convoy of about 50 military personnel. These allegations were also echoed by Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, the Majority Chief Whip.
In response, Afenyo-Markin called into the program to correct the false claims, clarifying that he does not have a military convoy. He also pointed out that previous Minority Leaders have used police outriders for security, which is a standard practice. Following his intervention, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor retracted his statement and apologized live on air.
Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as ‘Nana B,’ took to his Facebook page to commend Afenyo-Markin’s swift response in shutting down what he described as propaganda against the Minority Leader. He stated that the NPP remains firm in its decision to boycott Media General due to what he termed biased panel discussions and unprofessional treatment of the party.
“I have spoken with Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, and he fully supports the party leadership’s decision to boycott Media General (TV3) due to their biased panel selections and unprofessional treatment of the NPP,” Nana B wrote on Facebook.
The NPP had earlier announced a total boycott of Media General platforms, including TV3, Onua TV, and 3FM, citing unfair treatment and consistent bias against the party. The party’s Communications Director, Richard Ahiagbah, noted that efforts to engage Media General’s management on these concerns had yielded no results, forcing the NPP to take this firm stance.
