Changes “Save Ghana Football” Conveners asked for have not been addressed- Kankam Boadu

A convener of the Save Ghana Football Movement, Bright Kankam Boadu, has stated in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports that most of the items the pressure group listed in its petition to address several ills in Ghana football have not been addressed.

Kankam Boadu, the 2025 Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Journalist of the Year winner, was part of a group of sports journalists including former SWAG Journalist of the Year winner Saddick Adams, who protested on February 14, 2024 after Ghana got kicked out of the AFCON at the group stage.

A petition highlighted problem areas that need to be changed were presented to the Ghana Football Association and the government of Ghana but Kankam Boadu believes that most of the items have not been addressed.

“Honestly, most of the things, I am very disappointed, most of the things we asked for have not been addressed. One of the key things we called for a halt on was the search for the Ghana Black Stars coach.”

“Sadly, the very day we were doing the demonstration was the day they called Otto Addo to interview him and we all know how it’s turned out to be. If they had listened and taken time, I’m sure we would have been able to search for a better coach.”

Under Otto Addo, Ghana failed to qualify to the 2025 AFCON after failing to win a game in six 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
