Ghana has achieved a remarkable feat at the African Union (AU) elections in Addis Ababa, securing a 100% success rate for all its three candidates. The news was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzto Ablakwa, who described it as a historic win for the country.
Ambassador Jane Gasu Aheto has been elected to serve on the African Union Commission on International Law(AUCIL), while Lawyer Kwami Edem Senanu secured re-election to the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption (AUABC). Their victories come a day after Ambassador Amma A. Twum-Amoah was emphatically elected as Commissioner.
Expressing his excitement, the Minister commended the successful candidates, the campaign team, Ghana’s Mission in Addis Ababa, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and President John Dramani Mahama for their efforts in ensuring the country’s success.
“So far, only Ghana appears to have achieved this feat. The black star rises again! For God and Country.” He wrote.
The victories reinforce Ghana’s leadership role on the African continent, with the elected officials expected to contribute significantly to the African Union’s legal, diplomatic, and anti-corruption efforts.
