I have faith in govt’s anti-corruption fight

Former Auditor-General and member of Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL), Daniel Yao Domelevo, has expressed confidence in the government’s commitment to fighting corruption.

His remarks follow the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) declaration of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta as a fugitive for failing to respond to its summons.

Ofori-Atta is currently under investigation for his alleged involvement in four high-profile corruption cases, including the National Cathedral project and Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML) contracts.

Speaking on Citi Prime News on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, Domelevo reaffirmed his trust in the government’s anti-corruption efforts.

“I have faith in the government to fight corruption. If I didn’t have faith in the government, I wouldn’t have joined the ORAL team in the first place. It would have been a waste of my time. And I am happy they are going after the big fish.

“Because many times we go after the small boys and girls. So, it is good we are going after the big fishes,” he stated.

Addressing the OSP’s actions, Domelevo commended the office for its thorough approach to investigations.

“This is what we are looking for which is a thorough investigation into whether people are culpable or not. If they are not then they are left to go scot free. But if they are then we do whatever it takes to recover the money and maybe punish the people because we cannot continue to run a country like the way it is going. I support what the OSP is doing and kudos to him,” he stated.
