“Honoured to Serve” – Dr. Khalid pledges commitment to Ghana’s reset agenda

The newly appointed Economic Policy Adviser to the Office of the Vice-President, Dr. Sharif Mahmud Khalid, has expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve in the administration.

Following the announcement by Minister for Government Communication-designate, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, regarding new appointments to the Office of the Vice-President, Dr. Khalid shared his appreciation and commitment on his social media pages.

“I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to serve in the administration as a Policy Adviser on the Economy. I am grateful to H.E. John Mahama and H.E. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang for this opportunity.

“I am committed to working hard to deliver the reset agenda and to bring relief and prosperity to the people of Ghana,” he wrote.

Dr. Khalid served as a member of the NDC’s Economic and Finance Committee during the build-up to the 2024 General Election, where he worked closely with Vice-President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang. He also played a significant role in supporting the campaigns of several Members of Parliament in the Upper West Region.

Before his appointment, Dr. Khalid was an Associate Professor in Accounting and Finance at Queen’s University Belfast and previously held the position of Associate Professor in Accounting and Financial Management at the University of Sheffield.

In his new role, Dr. Khalid has pledged to work diligently to advance the administration’s reset agenda and deliver tangible benefits to Ghanaians.

About Dr. Sharif Mahmud Khalid

Dr. Khalid, an Oxford graduate with a PhD from Henley Business School—one of the world’s leading business schools—is a prominent member of the NDC’s Finance and Economy Committee.

He holds an MSc in Taxation Law from the University of Oxford UK, Faculty of Law.

An Executive MBA, Senior Leadership Programme from the Sheffield University Management School, UK.

He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

His academic work is exclusively published in the Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS) Journals, a top-tier platform for business school research.

Beyond academia, he has made significant contributions to research, consultancy, public engagement, and impact, with projects spanning countries like South Africa, Angola, and Mali, showcasing his global perspective and practical expertise.

A former student leader, Dr. Khalid served as the SRC President at the University of Cape Coast, demonstrating his leadership abilities early on.
